All Gates are Open Of Jagannath Temple After Four years

After Mohan Charan Majhi became the new Chief Minister of Odisha, something big happened at the Jagannath temple in Puri.

They opened up all four gates for everyone to enter on 13 june . Majhi, who's from the BJP, said it was all thanks to the blessings of Lord Jagannath.

He was really proud that his party made it happen. This hadn't been done for four years, ever since the old government, led by Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal, closed three of the gates. But now, things have changed, and all the gates are wide open again.

About  Jagannath Temple

Puri's Jagannath temple, among the most revered Hindu shrines in the state of odisha (and India), is dedicated to the worship of Lord Jagannath, believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu, along with his older brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.

It is one of the chardhams, four of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus, and thus sees heavy footfall.

Four Gate of Jagannath temple

The four gates of the Jagannath temple are located on the mid-points of its outer boundary wall, and face the four cardinal directions.

These four gates are represented by four animals,
In the east, there are lions and hence it is called Lion Gate or 'Singhadwara'.
In The west direction is represented by tigers and hence it is called Tiger Gate or ‘Vyaghradwara',
In The northern direction of the temple wall is represented by elephants. So, it is named as Elephant Gate or 'Hastidwara'.
In The southern direction, represented by horses, is known as Horse Gate or 'Ashvadwara'.

WHY THE GATES WERE CLOSED?

The Jagannath temple was closed for devotees after the pandemic- induced lockdown began on March 25, 2020.
It was opened nine months later, on December 23. But only the main entrance was kept operational.
The state government under Patnaik cited the 'Srimandir Parikrama' project as the reason for the gates' closure.

As elections drew nearer, Union Home Minister Amit Shah repeatedly said in public meetings that the BJP would open all four entrances "within hours" of assuming power.
The party even included this in its manifesto.
And the party made good on this promise. Majhi visited the temple on Thursday early morning, along with all his ministers, a number of MLAs, Puri MP Sambit Patra, and other senior BJP Leader.
